Resisting the change
Updating Firefox to the latest version is something which I do out of the force of habit. Most of the time I am confronted with the usual incompatibility of one or two extensions. I can live without them for one or two weeks.
In the latest version (3.6) I had to say good bye to the "Utopia FFSE White" theme. That wasn't that hard, having replaced the theme with a Persona. Now that there are plenty of Personas available, some of them are really good. I for one fancy "Gato Cinza" which stands for "gray cat".
What was hard getting used to was the major tab behavior change in Firefox. Opening a new tab now places it after the current one by default. I'm always looking in the wrong place for new ones. Luckily, there is a way to switch back to the previous behavior, by going to the "about:config" page (type about:config in the Firefox address bar), and searching for "browser.tabs.insertRelatedAfterCurrent" and setting it to "false".
Of course, you should know that you have just voided your warranty!

Thanks for sharing, it really annoyed me the new tab behaviour. I also took a trip to the about:config panel (promising to be careful, of course :) ), but I somehow overlooked the property.
ReplyDeleteRegarding the themes, I dislike both your themes :) (graycat and Utopia FFSE). Here's a nice theme: ArzoFox (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12868) combined with ColorfulTabs (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1368).
You're welcome!
ReplyDeleteArzoFox doesn't look bad, but it doesn't fit with my desktop's color scheme, which is dark. I need something with just a little bit of color and plenty of white/gray/black. Thanks for the input though...
